From the 1930s until the early 1980s, XECHI was one of the major medium wave broadcasters in Chihuahua, Mexico. XECHI was owned and operated by one of the best hotels in Chihuahua (with hotels in several other cities in northern Mexico). While most programming was aimed at the local audience, after 9 p.m. the station switched their 750 kHz frequency to English with programs promoting tourism to the Chihuahua area and frequent ads for their hotels. In the late 1970s, one popular program was aired live from the hotel ballroom. This QSL from the Oscar York collection was issued in 1976.
